How My Trainer Saved Me From Getting In Dire Straits
If you are an active
runner or a sports player, you know that sprains and muscle pull is one of the
harshest realities of your active life. No matter how careful you are, injuries
will occur, and if you do not take care of it from the very beginning, you might
have to suffer from chronic problems at a later stage. One of the reasons why
all the professional sports places hire a physiotherapist during the games is
to deal with such issues immediately.
From the very
beginning of my schooling life, I had been attracted to sports. It had a lot to
do with the environment at home where my mother loved playing tennis and had
done so professionally, and my father was a squash enthusiast. Like any son,
aspiring to be like his father, I took an immediate liking for both the sports
and started taking sports seriously at a very early age. By the time I made it
past secondary school, I knew that sports was my calling and I would be
pursuing my career in it at a professional level.
A few days before I
had to head to college for showcasing my squash skills, I was practicing
vigorously at the club. While hitting the ball, I felt a muscle pull in my
back. I ignored the pain and kept on playing for about two to three minutes
before it got chronic enough for me to lie down flat on the floor. I could
envision the college scholarship that I had been banking upon was going down
the drain with the pain I was experiencing at the moment.
My instructor rushed
and examined my pain. He applied some cold pack to the area for about what
seemed like an eternity and asked me to wear a sports wrap regularly. He also
asked me to avoid playing for a few days. Since I did not seem to have an
option, I rested for a few days before my father drove me down to my dream
college for the game. That day I thanked my instructor for the amazing sports wrap as
it provided the required support to play and win the game, even if it was with
some discomfort.
