The Importance of Therapy Wraps for Self-Care and Self Treatment

Therapy wraps have been around for some time; however, their importance has been greatly undermined by many of those who haven’t had to use a therapy wrap before. After all, one does not know what to make of something that they have never used before. But for those who have used at least one kind of therapy wrap, know the gradual advantages that they offer. Therapy wraps are available in many types based on application area: therapy shoulder wrap, neck wrap, back wrap, elbow wrap, knee and joints wrap and a couple of other specialized variants.

Therapy wraps can be recommended by doctors, but they are quintessential self-care products that are great for home and personal use. Have a joint pain and require immediate comfort? A knee and joint wrap will help you get relief almost instantly. Have regular back pains and have trouble lying down on your back or sitting upright? Back wraps will greatly help you ease into situations that may be otherwise hard for you. With therapy wraps designed for commonly affected body parts and pain points, you can have a specific body wrap for almost all areas of applications.

The real convenience of therapy wraps does not lie in their easy to wrap straps; it lies in their inner gel packs that are the main heart of any therapy wrap. Modern therapy wraps come with attached gel packs that are easy to remove and replace. The main convenience of gel packs is that they serve a dual purpose; they can be either heated to make them a hot pack or refrigerated to make them a cold pack. Most body pains and muscle sprains require either a cold pack or hot pack application to relieve one of their pain, so therapy wraps do away with two different products by offering reusable gel packs that can be cooled or heated depending on the purpose. For cooling, the gel packs need to be refrigerated for a short time, and for heating, the gel packs require to be microwaved or put in hot water for some time. The gel packs can get very hot or cold, so it is unwise to use them directly without any protective casing such as wraps.

Body wraps are great for personal therapies or recovery from ailments and body pain. Many of those with long term body conditions such as eczema or frequent muscle pains greatly benefit from body wraps that can be applied frequently and daily on affected areas. Unlike simple gel packs or hot/cold bags that one needs to hold and sit still, body wraps are designed to help you have limited movement ability so that you can do essential tasks around the house when a wrap is applied to the affected area. It is not recommended to move around when wearing a wrap, but for minor pains that don’t need you to absolutely stay still in one place, you can easily move around with wraps securing the gel packs securely in place. For more information on body wraps and whether you need them, you can contact your doctor.
